Main topics to cover:
1. If you are a student of Biotechnology, Biochemistry then you have to be thorough with the following topics before appearing in any Life science exams. Because you will find ample questions for sure from these topics.
1. If you are a student of Biotechnology, Biochemistry then you have to be thorough with the following topics before appearing in any Life science exams. Because you will find ample questions for sure from these topics.
- Flower development - ABCE model (if you do not get sufficient info regarding this topic then contact me)
- Cellular respiration and the Q-cycle
- Photosynthesis (Light and dark reactions - all pathways, how much energy molecules consumed and produced in respective pathways)
- Inhibitors of Eukaryotic and Prokaryotic - Transcription, translation, DNA replication and photosynthesis.
- Mechanism of action of some important antibiotics - streptomycin, ampicillin, tetracycline, ciprofloxacin etc.
- The process of DNA replication, transcription, and translation in eukaryotes and prokaryotes. Remember - you have to know the function of each of the subunits in the complexes. Do not skip any information atleast given in Lehninger - Nelson and Cox.
- Structures of all 20 standard amino acids and few important non-standard amino acids like citrulline, ornithine etc.
2. If you are from any basic science postgraduate like M.Sc Botany, Zoology then:
- Concentrate more on Ecology. Complete all the topics of ecology if possible. I will suggest you to study Ecology - Eugene P Odum. He is the father of Ecology. Also, a book by S.Chand publishers having five different subjects had Ecology too. Its better to complete Ecology part in that book and study Eugene Odum's Ecology book as well.
- Evolution
- Plant and Animal physiology
- Plant - microbe interactions, pathogenecity and R-genes.
